Steps for Enrollment - BCPS Students
The goal of EDLP participation is to support BCPS students in obtaining their high school diploma.
Access to the EDLP always begins with enrollment in a comprehensive BCPS high school. Parents and/or students should call their zoned high school to schedule an enrollment appointment and determine what documentation is needed.
Once residency is confirmed and enrollment complete, the zoned school counselor will:
-
1. Review and update the student’s transcript;
-
2. Develop a graduation plan;
-
4. Share voluntary program options for meeting goals;
-
5. Schedule a 504 or IEP review for a change in placement, if applicable; and
-
6. Complete the co-enrollment OR the enrollment recommendation to EDLP.
-
Co-enrolled students and their parents participate immediately in the EDLP virtual orientation to get started. A recommendation is required, but there is no further approval needed unless the student has a 504 or IEP.
Students recommended for enrollment in (or transfer to) the EDLP as an only point of educational access require review and approval prior to attending orientation. Staff in the EDLP will conduct a review and inform the zoned school counselor of the outcome and next steps.
