Mathematics 6 Content
The Baltimore County Public Schools Mathematics 6 program is designed so that each student has access to rigorous instruction, uses problem solving to examine the world around them, and engages in the habits of mind of proficient mathematical thinkers.
In Mathematics 6, instructional time focuses on (1) connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division and using the concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems; (2) completing the understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers; (3) writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; and (4) developing understanding of statistical thinking.

Mathematics 6 Curriculum
|
Mathematics 6 students use the Illustrative Mathematics text, which is designed to spark discussion, perseverance, and the enjoyment of mathematics. Students learn through a problem-based learning cycle. You can read more about the design principles and supports provided for Illustrative Mathematics in their Information for Families (En Español).
